Rarely do we read how people feel when preparing for a long journey knowing they will be physically away from family and friends for a long time. Yesterday I was visited by a person I have been working with in my business environment for almost 9 years. He came all the way from Italy just to fare me well. He spent exactly two hours with me over lunch time before taking a taxi back to the airport to catch his return flight. We talked about the things of life and we got to know each other more in the space of those two hours than over the last 9 years. Not surprisingly when business or hierarchical barriers fall away, space is created for friendship to develop. I was touched by his act of friendship! May will be a particularly emotional month with more farewell events to take place.
