A depression hitting Madeira

The pictures and video below show how the waves break at the entrance of the marina. As a result the boats roll and pitch heavily in their berths. The graph below the picture is a grib file, showing speed and direction of the wind at 3 AM UTC. The little black dot almost in the middle of the screen is Madeira. It sits in a yellow zone and at the edge of an orange section, suggesting winds between 7 and 8 BF. Gradually the low pressure zone will move to the west leaving us with lighter winds. The night was not particularly peaceful but we are fine. One of our English sailing friends once said in similar conditions:”I don’t like to spill my tea”. We are proud to say we managed to enjoy a cup of coffee without spilling any 🙂
