Time flies…it has been since October that we have written on our blog…shame on us…shame, shame. Our seven weeks stay in Las Palmas is already a souvenir. Leaving newly made friends behind was tough. This has become a pattern in our sea steading life. We meet nice people along the way, some decide to stay where they are, some, like us, sail on to new destinations. And sometimes we meet again, unexpectedly in new places. Our decision to not participate to the ARC+ suddenly gave us a lot more time to spend on repairs and general maintenance of the boat, and to relax. One of our kids came to visit us, what a delight!
Now we are in Mindelo on the isle of Sao Vicente in the Cape Verdes. We feel this as the real beginning of our adventure, as we discover cultures outside Europe. Cabo Verde is much more connected to Africa in look and feel than to Europe. The temperature, the colours, the music in the streets, and all those smiling faces give us a warm feeling. Christmas in an exotic place was a new experience for us. Needless to say we missed our family badly, we guess this is one of the prices to pay for our new life style. The new year is almost there. No warm coats this time to celebrate on the street, shorts and “flip-flops” will do 🙂
